Juan Lopez
DESCRIPTION
The Juan Lopez Seleccion No. 2 is one of the best-known and most popular cigars from the Juan Lopez brand and is regarded by aficionados as a real hidden gem in the Robusto format. It combines Cuban tradition with an expressive yet balanced flavour profile and is aimed at connoisseurs seeking a characterful cigar with depth. The Juan Lopez Seleccion No. 2 impresses with its consistent quality, aromatic intensity and honest, authentic style.
Popular Robusto format
Crafted in the classic Robusto format, the Juan Lopez Seleccion No. 2 offers an ideal balance between length and ring gauge. This format ensures a pleasantly cool smoke and a consistent release of flavours throughout the entire smoking experience. Its compact, robust appearance makes it particularly popular with connoisseurs who wish to experience intense flavours within a manageable timeframe.
Robust Aromas with Elegance
Aromatically, the Juan Lopez Seleccion No. 2 is medium-bodied with a distinctly pronounced character. Earthy notes and cedar form the foundation, complemented by roasted flavours and a subtle, natural sweetness. As the cigar is smoked, nutty nuances, cocoa and a well-integrated spiciness develop, lending depth and complexity to the flavour profile. Despite its intensity, the cigar remains consistently balanced and pleasantly accessible.
A favourite amongst connoisseurs
Thanks to its reliable draw and even burn, the Juan Lopez Seleccion No. 2 is suitable for both experienced aficionados and connoisseurs looking to discover a stronger Robusto. It pairs superbly with an espresso, a dark rum or a full-bodied whisky. A cigar for anyone who appreciates authenticity, spice and Cuban tradition in perfect balance.

Rename format
Hello everyone
I’ve just noticed that this size is described as ‘Corona Gorda’, just like No. 1. Shouldn’t this be a Robusto?

Wonderful
At this price point, the ‘ Juan Lopez ’ has no reason to hide behind its famous, larger counterparts. On the contrary: it boasts a character all of its own. To avoid repeating myself, I won’t go over the rich array of flavours that has already been described. I’d also recommend a V-cut. The draw is then perfect. Robust, yet not overpowering in character. A full-bodied smoke. One of those cigars where the enjoyment remains undiminished right down to the very last short stub (which I don’t usually smoke), with no harshness or bitterness.

Brilliant
A truly affordable Cuban cigar. A marvellous wrapper, excellent draw, fantastic flavours. Mild, woody, slightly peppery, sweet, creamy and floral to start with… What more could you ask for? I’m absolutely delighted.

Truly a complex creation
Right from the start, the slightly heterogeneous structure of the wrapper is striking – an unmistakable indication of the distinctive character of the Juan Lopez Seleccion No. 2.
This Habano is perfectly crafted and has a comparatively firm structure, as I have already observed with certain vitolas from Romeo y Julieta. The Seleccion No. 2 therefore requires a certain amount of care when drawing on it. It is probably not the first choice for beginners. Nevertheless, the draw resistance can be rated as good to very good, which speaks volumes about its ‘inner qualities’.
I recommend a generous V-cut, which helps to optimise the draw resistance.
The burn is even, and the ash is firm and stable.
In terms of flavour, the Juan Lopez Seleccion No. 2 is a real surprise package, offering everything from subtle sweetness to more tart notes of leather and earth, including the spiciness of white pepper and chilli. It also offers excellent flavour consistency from the first to the last minute. I’d rate the strength as above average. Highly recommended all round!
