DESCRIPTION
With the La Aurora 107 Nicaragua Training Kit, you will learn to recognise and identify a wide variety of notes and flavours in cigar smoke.
Different flavours
Professional cigar tasters detect a wide variety of flavours and aromas whilst enjoying a cigar. Many people think this is nonsense, and that tobacco simply tastes of tobacco. But if that were true, what would be the difference between different cigars? Why do you prefer one particular cigar over another? Because not all cigars taste the same, and because the subtle differences and nuances make all the difference. Being able to perceive these subtle differences and nuances is a matter of practice.
La Aurora Cigars
La Aurora, a cigar manufacturer from the Dominican Republic, is launching the world’s first training set, designed to help aficionados develop and refine their sensory skills. The set contains a box of four ‘Pure grade’ cigars in the Corona format. ‘Pure grade’, also known as ‘Perritos’, are cigars made from a single variety of tobacco, enabling connoisseurs to assess the quality of the leaves and the fermentation process. Furthermore, they can build on this base flavour and decide which tobaccos to add to the final blend. These four “Pure Grade” single cigars are the four individual components of the finished La Aurora 107 Nicaragua blend, which is also included in this set.
Barber Pole Cigar
A very special highlight of this box is the “Barber Pole” cigar. This is a multi-wrapper cigar. It features different wrappers on different parts of the cigar – six in total. It is the wrapper, in particular, that reveals differences in a cigar’s flavour. Light this cigar and savour the differences and the development of the various flavours as you smoke it.
Expert tip
If you really want to appreciate all the nuances in a cigar, let the smoke pass through your nose. This allows you to detect many aromas and flavours that the palate might miss
