DESCRIPTION
The Fonseca Cosacos is the charming Cuban cigar for moments of pure enjoyment: mild, creamy and elegant in character. It combines the brand’s subtle signature style with reliable craftsmanship and a natural sweetness that delights from the very first puff. Wood and hay meet delicate honey notes, a gentle spiciness and a hint of toasted nut – unobtrusive, well-rounded and ideal with coffee or a mild, cask-aged rum.
Fonseca Cosacos – Origin & Format
Hand-rolled in Cuba (tripa larga, totalmente a mano), the Cosacos bears the factory vitola of the same name and measures 135 mm in length with a ring gauge of 42 (Ø ≈ 16.67 mm). This classic, Corona-style format delivers a clear, harmonious flavour profile, allowing ample time for a relaxed smoking experience. Typical of Fonseca is the presentation in protective tissue paper – an elegant detail that underlines the brand’s tradition and provides additional protection for the cigar in the humidor.
Character & Flavours
Aromatically, the Fonseca Cosacos ranges from mild to mild-medium in strength, with a creamy, silky texture. Leading notes of cedarwood and hay form the base; subtle honeyed sweetness and delicate spice provide balance. As the smoke develops, hints of almonds and light coffee emerge, with a touch of cocoa flickering through towards the finish. Everything remains approachable and elegant – perfect for those new to the world of Habanos, but also for connoisseurs who appreciate a smooth, flavourful smoke.
Workmanship, Smoking Time & Presentation
The neat rolling ensures a reliable draw, a smooth, even burn and a stable, light-grey ash. In practice, depending on the pace of smoking, the smoking time is around 30 to 45 minutes – ideal for an enjoyable lunch break or a brief evening interlude. The Cosacos are classically packaged in boxes of 25; depending on the market, small tissue packs are also available. All in all, it offers excellent value for money with that certain Fonseca charm.

A pleasant surprise
For me, this is a very well-balanced cigar. It was a real pleasure to smoke it.
It has an almost sweet character, is rather mild, and has an aromatic, spicy flavour.
I’d definitely recommend buying it.

Really tasty and excellent value for money!
A real treat from the very first puff. One small downside is that you have to draw quite hard.
