The S.T. Dupont collections are manufactured in France. The main production facility is located in Faverges, in the Haute-Savoie department. The pursuit of perfection, high quality standards and meticulous attention to detail form the foundation of the work carried out by every worker, craftsman and technician in the S.T. Dupont workshops.
From the very beginning, the art of goldsmithing has played a vital role in S.T. Dupont’s creations. Even back then, the numerous and precious fittings on travel trunks were adorned with exquisite goldsmithing.
S.T. Dupont’s goldsmithing at the very highest level
The art of goldsmithing involves working with precious or rare metals such as gold, silver, palladium or platinum. The goldsmith’s work comprises three stages: creating the decoration through guilloché, chasing and engraving; polishing; and plating. The guilloché patterns are engraved into solid brass with the utmost care to ensure durability. Drawing on its savoir-faire, S.T. Dupont also ventures into the most technically daring designs: large polished surfaces on which even the smallest flaw would be conspicuous, or interrupted guilloché patterns that demand the utmost precision. The result of these technical masterpieces is a range of unique, original, modern and, above all, numerous designs: several hundred designs have already been produced.
Up to 600 production steps for an S.T. Dupont lighter
S.T. Dupont lighters, comprising around 70 parts, require between 500 and 600 production steps. The production cycle generally takes 4 to 5 months. Each item is unique, as the skilled craftsman who assembles the lighter engraves his initials beneath the drive roller. These discreetly reflect the pride with which the item was crafted.
S.T. Dupont collaborates with the leading French, Italian and Spanish manufacturers, renowned for their technical expertise. The quality of the components is impeccable. The fine detailing in gold, palladium or ruthenium is a testament to S.T. Dupont’s expertise in the art of goldsmithing.
