Trinidad Vigia Tubos

The name Trinidad pays tribute to the beautiful town of La Santísima Trinidad on the south coast of Cuba. Founded in the 16th century, it has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1988. The roots of the Trinidad brand date back to 1969. For many years, much like Cohiba, it was produced solely as an exclusive gift from the Cuban state to foreign dignitaries. It was not until 1998 that it was released for general sale – albeit in limited quantities. For several years, Trinidad cigars were produced at the El Laguito factory, the historic Cohiba factory. The special tobacco blends, featuring filler and wrapper leaves from the Vuelta Abajo tobacco-growing region, make this brand unique and exclusive. Today, production is based in Pinar del Río, the most important city in the Vuelta Abajo region.

In the range since 2014

Initially, there was only one Trinidad size: the Fundadores. In 2003, the range was expanded with the launch of the Reyes, Coloniales and Robusto Extra sizes. At the same time, the brand’s design was modernised to reflect the high quality of this Habano. Since 2009, the Trinidad Robustos T has completed the range. In 2012, production of the Robusto Extra and Robustos T was discontinued.

During the XVI Habanos Festival in 2014, the new Vigía vitola was unveiled. This Vitola de Galera (production name) – Torres has a ring gauge of 54 and a length of 110 mm. Both the Vitola de Galera (production name) – Torres and the Vitola de Salida (trade name) – Vigía – embody our vision of Trinidad and the area on the edge of the Valle de los Ingenios, on Cuba’s south coast. Imposing watchtowers, built to keep watch over the sugar cane plantations, dominate the farmland and inspire dreams of the beautiful landscape.

Tasting Notes

Cigar exterior: Colorado, oily sheen, fine veining.
Cigar interior: Even , firm filler and binder.
Smoke: Very creamy, sweet with a medium smoke volume.
Flavour: Nuts, coffee, leather and earth.
Burn: Good burn, even.
