Davidoff
DESCRIPTION
It took 20 years to develop the new Davidoff Yamasá. It all began with Master Blender Henke Kelner's seemingly impossible dream of transforming the inhospitable marshlands of the Yamasá region into a successful tobacco-growing area. Although everyone thought it was impossible, Henke persisted. He was unshakeable in his belief in the gifts of nature and the potential of the land.
And he was right. In their endless quest to bring new flavours, experiences and delights to cigar aficionados, Henke Kelner and his team of experts have relentlessly nurtured and cultivated the soil of Yamasá ? a soil that has been reluctant to change. When they realised that it contained too much sand and clay, they fertilised every single tobacco plant by hand with nitrate and calcium. As Henke himself puts it, they 'kept going, kept going and kept going again' until it worked. Thanks to his determination, a journey into the world of the new Davidoff Yamasá series really is a journey to an unexplored planet.
An intense and inspiring taste experience
This wonderful cigar presents itself to the aficionado in an appealing colour and shine. The Davidof Yamasá begins with an immediately noticeable, spicy Nicaraguan flavour. Delicate nutty flavours blend with aromas of coffee, cedar wood, earth and black pepper to enhance the aficionado's palate. The cigar has a deep and complex body that only reveals itself slowly. A perfect tobacco composition of elegant, mature Dominican filler tobaccos, the strong Yamasá binder and the rainy Yamasá wrapper leaf combined with the sweetness from Condega and the spice from Estelí create a completely new and inspiring flavour experience.

Overall, I enjoyed it
I was generally very impressed with the Yamasa Toro from Davidoff. I was particularly struck by the pleasant draw and the smoke volume, which I found very appealing. The cigar develops a balanced interplay of flavours, whilst remaining pleasantly mild and never coming across as harsh.
It’s particularly worth highlighting that there were no unpleasant petrochemical notes – the smoke was clean and harmonious throughout. The craftsmanship and the overall smoking experience left a high-quality impression.
Despite its many positive qualities, for me it didn’t quite reach the point where I would describe it as an outstanding experience. It is a very good cigar with character and balance, but personally I felt it lacked that final certain something.
I therefore award it 4 out of 5 stars – although the final rating is, of course, always a matter of personal taste.

The 20 years of development described for the Yamasa Toro have certainly paid off. It captivates with its nuanced and refined flavours from Nicaragua.
The delivery and quality were excellent. Thank you very much.
