Bohemian No. 12 The Bamboo 18.5% 700ml

In 1890, the German Louis Eppinger, known as the ‘father of bartending in Japan’, created this excellent aperitif for the international guests of the historic New Grand Hotel in Yokohama. Eppinger was best known for his extraordinary drinks, in which he masterfully combined a wide variety of ingredients. The harmonious blend of dry sherry, dry white vermouth and bitters found a large following not only in Japan.

All over the world, people enjoy ‘Japan’s Sherry Amour’ – as the Bamboo is also known – served in a chilled cocktail glass, flavoured and garnished with an orange zest.

Tasting Notes

Colour: Dark amber.
Aroma: Lingering, full-bodied, fruity aromas of apricot, peach and raisins, a variety of herbs and spices, with a hint of almonds and nuts.
Taste: Wine-like, sweetish notes, paired with slightly fruity aromas; pleasantly dry, with a hint of lavender and traces of rosemary and cloves.
Finish: Soft and full on the palate, with a long finish.
Overall: An elegant drink, wonderfully fresh, complex and varied.

Preparation

Pour into a mixing glass filled with ice cubes, stir well and strain into a cocktail glass. Add a garnish to the drink. To finish, lightly mist the cocktail with the aroma sprayer.
