Bohemian No. 8 The Hanky Panky 30.0% 700ml

1920 - we are in the American Bar of the Savoy Hotel in London and witness the first Hanky Panky. In search of the perfect cocktail for one of her regular guests, bartender Ada Coleman created this drink. Made from gin, Italian vermouth and a herbal bitters, flavoured with the essential oils of an orange zest and served in a pre-chilled cocktail tip, it met with the reaction: "By Jove!

That is the real hanky-panky!" We accept this enthusiastic exclamation from the eccentric Charles Hawtrey without comment and still count the Hanky Panky as one of our favourite cocktail classics today.

Tasting notes

Colour: Light amber.
Aroma: Lush and intense, spicy and herbal, with delicate hints of citrus and seductive mint, a subtle floral aroma.
Flavour: Amazingly delicate, with herbs and juniper, a hint of galangal paired with a hint of rhubarb and citrus, subtle traces of oak and gentian.
Finish: Bittersweet and herbal finish.
Total: Complex and harmonious, a sensual drink.

Preparation

Pour into a mixing glass filled with ice cubes, stir well and strain into a cocktail glass. Add a garnish to the drink. To finish, spritz the cocktail once with the flavour atomiser.
