Bohemian No. 8 The Hanky Panky 30.0% 700ml

1920 – we find ourselves in the American Bar at London’s Savoy Hotel, witnessing the birth of the first Hanky Panky. In search of the perfect cocktail for one of her regulars, the barmaid Ada Coleman created this drink. Made with gin, Italian vermouth and an herbal bitter, aromatically rounded off with the essential oils of orange zest and served in a pre-chilled cocktail glass, it elicited the reaction: ‘By Jove!

That is the real hanky-panky!” Without further comment, we accept this enthusiastic exclamation from the eccentric Charles Hawtrey and still count the Hanky Panky among the most popular cocktail classics to this day.

Tasting Notes

Colour: Light amber.
Aroma: Lush and intense, spicy and herbaceous, with delicate hints of citrus and alluring mint, a subtle floral aroma.
Taste: Surprisingly delicate, with herbs and juniper, a hint of galangal paired with notes of rhubarb and citrus fruits, subtle traces of oak and gentian.
Finish: A bittersweet and herbaceous finish.
Overall: Complex and harmonious, a sensual drink.

Preparation

Pour into a mixing glass filled with ice cubes, stir well and strain into a cocktail glass. Add a garnish to the drink. To finish, lightly mist the cocktail with the aroma sprayer.
