Its recipe is strongly reminiscent of the good old OLD FASHIONED: a high-proof spirit as the base, refined with a little sugar and a dash of bitters. Yet the two classics differ in a few subtle but important details: the long-aged cognac, the choice of bitters, the choice of zest and, last but not least, the hallmark of the Sazerac: the hint of absinthe. Tasting Notes

Colour: Mahogany.
Aroma: Subtle aromas of dried plums and dates, with hints of apricot, vanilla, chocolate and walnuts, as well as a touch of sponge cake.
Taste: Velvety smooth, full-bodied, elegant oaky notes with sweet hints of cocoa and liquorice.
Finish: Long and supple, elegant depth with a spicy sweetness.
Overall: Intense and smooth – with wonderful complexity.

Preparation

Pour into a mixing glass filled with ice cubes, stir well and strain into a cocktail glass. Add a garnish to the drink. To finish, lightly mist the cocktail with the aroma sprayer.
