DESCRIPTION
The Meerapfel Behind the Scenes No. 4 is the shortest cigar in the series: a box-pressed Short Gordo in the 4 x 60 format. Short but generous in ring gauge, it offers a mild, creamy smoking experience lasting around 45 to 50 minutes – ideal when time is short but expectations are high.
Luxury modelled on the world of perfumery
With ‘Behind the Scenes’, every detail has been carefully considered. The packaging takes its cue from European luxury perfumery: each of the six sizes has its own colour, and the wooden box is colour-coordinated with the band. The band itself features only a Roman numeral and a square ornament – no brand name, simply and elegantly designed. The design is inspired by the square courtyard of a Roman house, a place of discretion, far removed from the public eye.
Blend and Format
Jeremiah Meerapfel created the blend for his younger sister Melissa when she joined the family business: accessible, sweet and creamy. The light Connecticut Shade wrapper is finely veined, slightly oily and evenly coloured. Beneath it lies a filler of Dominican tobaccos. The No. 4 is hand-rolled in the Dominican Republic. The wide ring gauge of 60 ensures a cool, full-bodied smoke, whilst the short length ensures a compact burn.
Flavour and character
When cold, the No. 4 smells of cedarwood, leather, earth and flowers. In the first half, cedarwood and toasted bread take centre stage, accompanied by a hint of earth and a subtle spiciness with a touch of pepper. In the second half, creamy and leathery notes emerge, rounding off the profile. The strength remains mild and aromatic throughout, and the ash is grey and firm. Creamy and woody notes linger in the aftertaste.
Who is No. 4 suitable for?
No. 4 is the perfect cigar for a lunch break, a post-meal coffee or a brief moment of tranquillity in the evening. It is aimed at connoisseurs who appreciate a large ring gauge but do not wish to set aside two hours. It pairs well with an espresso, a cappuccino or a glass of Prosecco. For those wishing to discover the range, No. 4 offers a quick first impression. Thanks to its mild character, it is also ideally suited to beginners.
