DESCRIPTION
The Meerapfel Behind the Scenes No. 6 is the largest size in the range: a box-pressed Gordo measuring 6 x 60. With a smoking time of around 100 minutes, it is the perfect cigar for a long, relaxed smoke, mild in character and rich in creamy, nutty notes right down to the very last centimetre.
A blend with a personal touch
Behind the Scenes grew out of a family story. When Melissa Meerapfel joined the family business, her brother Jeremiah created a blend especially for her: approachable, sweet and creamy. Melissa represents the eleventh generation of a tobacco-growing family that has been working behind the scenes in the industry for centuries. The name of the series reflects precisely this role: discreet, unassuming and yet influential. Behind the Scenes was launched in 2025 as part of the Family Reserve Blends. In Switzerland, the range has been distributed by Compañia de Tabacos since 2026.
Blend and Format
The wrapper is a light Connecticut Shade in Claro with a velvety texture, very fine-veined and evenly coloured. The filler consists entirely of Dominican tobaccos. The No. 6 is hand-rolled in the Dominican Republic and then pressed into a rectangular shape – a tribute to the square courtyard of a Roman house, which characterises the line’s design. The large format appears generously filled, sits comfortably in the hand and delivers a cool, full-bodied smoke.
Flavour and character
When cold, the No. 6 smells of cedarwood, leather, earth and flowers. In the first third, cedarwood, nuts and toasted bread combine with cream, a hint of coffee, a touch of earth and a hint of pepper. The manufacturer describes the profile as milk chocolate, gentle pepper and light cedarwood. This harmonious profile carries the No. 6 evenly through all three thirds. The strength remains mild and aromatic, whilst the aftertaste is woody, nutty and creamy on the palate. The grey ash is very firm and easily holds a long cone.
Who is the No. 6 suitable for?
The No. 6 is the right choice for lovers of large-format cigars who are looking for a long, mild smoking experience. It is perfect for a leisurely evening on the terrace or amongst friends. It pairs well with a cognac, a mild rum, a champagne or a café crème.
