World domination in the world of cigar enjoyment

The brand has its roots in 2016, when Swiss sommelier and cigar merchant Marcel Knobel began a collaboration with Henderson Ventura of Tabacalera William Ventura. Due to trademark issues, the original name “Adventura Cigars” was changed to “ADV Cigars & McKay”. Each of the various cigar lines tells a chapter from the fictional adventures of ADVentura and his companion McKay, who set off on a journey around the world together in the 15th century. Marcel’s cigars were initially his own brand, which he distributed in Switzerland specifically through other retailers. Three lines were initially launched: The Explorer, The Conqueror and El Loco. The range has since expanded. The ‘Barbarroja’s Invasion’ series comprises three vitolas and is named after King Barbarossa. Although this king lived in the 12th century and fell from his horse, whilst the 15th century is the era of ADVentura and McKay, Marcel emphasises that he spent two years working on this particular blend. It is stronger than earlier creations such as the ADV Cigars “The Royal Return”.

Not for beginners

The blend combines a Mexican San Andrés wrapper, a Dominican binder and Dominican filler tobaccos, including the so-called ‘Medio Tiempo’. This tobacco grows at the top of the plant and is particularly strong. This cigar is therefore definitely not for beginners! The cigars are produced at the Tabacalera Henderson Ventura in the Dominican Republic.
