Charatan Pipe Tobacco No. 10 Mixture 50g Tin

Charatan Pipe Tobacco No. 10 Mixture 50g Tin is the perfect choice for anyone looking for a classic ‘London-style’ English blend: well-balanced, spicy and smoky, yet pleasant enough for everyday smoking. This blend was developed as a modern tribute to the traditional London Mixture and is regarded by many pipe smokers as a stylish alternative since well-known English classics have disappeared from the market. Its character is evident as soon as you open the tin: a medium ribbon/mixture cut, light and easy to pack, with a scent of wood, spice and subtle smokiness. In the pipe, No. 10 is never overpowering – rather, it is elegant, well-rounded and consistent, with a flavour that is ‘not too much’ yet still satisfying every time.

London-style blend: Latakia, Virginia & Turkish Orient

The blend combines Virginias with Turkish leaf (Orient) and Latakia – it is precisely this trio that defines the typical ‘London’ character. Virginia provides a gentle underlying sweetness and a slightly toasty foundation; the Orient adds subtle spice and a hint of herbal and resinous notes, whilst Latakia delivers the smoky base: woody, subtly leathery and pleasantly cool. Several descriptions emphasise that the blend remains medium-cut and medium in strength – ideal for anyone who likes English mixtures but isn’t necessarily looking for a ‘smoke bomb’. No. 10 proves very consistent throughout the smoke: it starts off spicy and smoky, then becomes rounder and smoother, without the flavours becoming flat. The room note is classically English: tobly smoky, but not as overpowering as in very Latakia-heavy blends. A brief moment in the open air can – as with many tinned tobaccos – make lighting easier and result in a more even burn.
