La Estrella
DESCRIPTION
The La Estrella Solar Gigante combines an impressive ring gauge of 60 with a spicier and more expressive profile than the Polar series. This hand-rolled long-filler cigar is produced in Honduras and uses Indonesian tobacco for both the wrapper and binder. The filler combines tobaccos from Honduras, Nicaragua and Colombia. This creates a multi-layered smoke with notes of wood, coffee, leather and darker roasted flavours. A subtle sweetness, along with spicy and slightly peppery accents, adds further interest. The large size encourages a slow burn and a rich, pleasantly cool smoke.
La Estrella Solar Gigante with a ring gauge of 60
The Gigante measures around 152 millimetres in length, with a diameter of approximately 23.8 millimetres and a ring gauge of 60. It therefore contains a generous amount of tobacco and, consequently, plenty of space for a slow, aromatic development. The generous size produces a cool smoke and, depending on the pace of smoking, offers up to around 90 minutes of enjoyment. Despite its imposing size, the cigar remains harmonious and is predominantly mild to medium-bodied.
Indonesian wrapper with a fuller-bodied filler
The wrapper and binder are sourced from Indonesia and lend the Solar a spicy, slightly earthy character. The filler combines tobaccos from Honduras, Nicaragua and Colombia. Compared to the Polar series, the Solar has a more intense flavour profile and comes across as slightly darker and spicier. The different countries of origin complement each other very harmoniously, resulting in a varied smoking experience that never becomes unnecessarily heavy.
Leather, coffee and dark roasted notes
At the start, wood and coffee take centre stage. As the smoke progresses, leather, earthy nuances and roasted nuts develop. A subtle sweetness tempers the stronger roasted flavours. Chocolatey hints and a delicate peppery spice add further depth. The generous ring gauge ensures that the flavours come across as soft and rounded. Towards the finish, the spiciness increases slightly, whilst leather, coffee and dark woody notes linger on the palate.
