In the 19th century, the Cuervo y Sobrinos watch shop catered to Havana’s high-society clientele. From the 1920s onwards, the company manufactured its own Swiss watches in La Chaux-de-Fonds. In the mid-19th century, Havana developed into one of the most modern and dynamic cities on the American continent, and the Cuervo y Sobrinos boutique became a meeting place for a distinguished clientele. From Ernest Hemingway to Winston Churchill, figures from the worlds of culture and politics visited the boutique, testifying to the brand’s prestige and influence. The revolution brought the company’s history to an end, for the time being. Cuervo y Sobrinos has been producing watches again since 1999 and is now launching its own line of cigars. Cuervo y Sobrinos cigars are hand-rolled in Estelí, Nicaragua. The company’s history dictates the recipe: the seeds for all the tobacco come from Cuba.
