Hoyo de Monterrey Le Hoyo de San Juan

Another format from the Le Hoyo series has found its way into our humidor - the Hoyo de San Juan. With a ring gauge of 54 and a length of 149mm, it is one of the larger formats from Hoyo de Monterrey and enchants the connoisseur with spicy, sweet notes. The tobacco blend of this excellent cigar consists  only of Seco and Ligero leaves, which come from the San Juan y Martínez region.

Hoyo de Monterrey owes its origin to the plantation of the same name in San Juan y Martínez* (D.O.P.), in the heart of the Vuelta Abajo* (D.O.P.) The Hoyo de Monterrey plantation, one of the great Vegas de Primera, is still adorned with a gate bearing the inscription "Hoyo de Monterrey. José Gener. 1860".  The Hoyo de Monterrey is located on the fertile banks of the river that crosses San Juan y Martínez. José Gener, a Spaniard from Tarragona, used the name of this vega for one of his Habanos brands since 1865.

All formats of Hoyo de Monterrey are Totalmente a Mano con Tripa Larga - long fillers made entirely by hand.
The flavour of Hoyo de Monterrey makes it a popular choice for those looking for a fine yet aromatic Habano that is lighter in taste but retains its great elegance and complexity. The brand is famous for its Double Corona and for the Epicure series, the No.1 and No.2, to which the Epicure Especial was added in 2008.

Hoyo de Monterrey was the first brand to introduce a Petit Robusto to its portfolio in 2004, with a 50 ring gauge but shorter length, for those who prefer large ring gauges but don't always have much time to savour them. There is also the "Le Hoyo" line, which is characterised by its slim and medium ring gauge.

The Le Hoyo de San Juan (Vitola de Galera - factory designation - Geniales) has a ring gauge of 54 (21.4 mm) x 150 mm in length.
