Sea apple Ernest Lonsdale

At InterTabac 2023 in Dortmund, Meerapfel launched its latest line of cigars, the Ernest Master Blend, the third edition named after important figures in the history of the Meerapfel family. 

The line is named after Ernest Meerapfel, who left his family and village of Untergrombach in Germany in the late 1800s to set sail to "revolutionise the world of premium tobacco". 

"My great-grandfather Ernest's exodus epitomised the curiosity and courage that our family members have always carried in their hearts; the desire to reach nature's finest leaves, no matter how remote or challenging the adventure," said Jeremiah Meerapfel, chairman of M. Meerapfel & Sons Belgium S.A., in a press release. "The Meerapfel Ernest Master Blend is full of aspirational sensations, layers of curiosity and an awe-inspiring complexity that exemplifies the unique explorations of those who leave behind perceived safety and comfort to conquer only the best - the complexity of over luxury."

Super premium and extremely limited

The composition of the blend of these cigars is not known. Nor is it officially confirmed where these cigars were made. Due to the very good relationship with Arturo Fuente, it is assumed that the super premium cigars were made in his factory. It is also rumoured that tobacco aged for up to 20 years was used.

Cigars on the outside: Oily wrapper with a fine lustre.
Cigarson the inside: Medium rolling, good workmanship.
Smoke: Creamy with medium smoke volume.
Flavour: Cedar wood, leather and earth
Burn: Good burning behaviour
