Skull 77 El Unico

History

Laurent Taha is the man behind Skull 77. He has a passion for motorbikes, sports cars and cigars. The ‘77’ does not refer to Laurent’s year of birth, but to the date on which the brand was founded: 7 July 2014. The cigars are produced in Costa Rica at Marc’s Vegas de Santiago factory, which won the Cigar Journal Award for the best Costa Rican cigar brand in 2017.

Appearance

Visually, this opulent, lightweight cigar is an absolute eye-catcher. The smooth, oily, ultra-fine-ribbed wrapper ends at the head with a braid, and the metallic-looking skull band looks, from a distance, as though it has been printed directly onto the cigar.

Characteristics

Initially, notes of grass, hay and cashew nuts come to the fore in the creamy smoke, accompanied by a delicately balanced honeyed sweetness. Apart from the wonderfully lingering honeyed sweetness – which intensifies as the cigar progresses and ends on a strong note in the finish – the other flavours are rather fleeting up to the halfway point, after which the finish improves.
