DESCRIPTION
A century of old craftsmanship
Little has changed at The Balvenie distillery since it was founded. The single malts are still produced in the traditional way, which gives these whiskies their unique flavour.
The Balvenie is the only distillery that still grows its own barley, uses traditional barn malting and keeps a coppersmith and coopers on site - which is why The Balvenie is still one of the malts with the highest proportion of craftsmanship. Thanks to the close collaboration between David Stewart and the coopers belonging to the distillery, new types of wooden casks are constantly being created.
Each whisky is individual in its flavour, but all are rich, extremely smooth and supported by a distinctive honey-sweet character.
Together with its sister distillery Glenfiddich, The Balvenie is still independent and family-owned by its founders.
Fruity & smooth
The Double Wood matures for 12 years in ex-bourbon casks and is then transferred to fresh Spanish oak Oloroso casks for 6 months for finishing.
TastingNotes:
Colour: amber.
Nose: sweet and fruity with Oloroso sherry notes, overlaid with honey and vanilla.
Palate: soft and smooth, nutty sweetness, cinnamon spiciness, pronounced sherry tone
