J.C. Newman emigrated to the USA in 1888 and, seven years later, founded the J.C. Newman Cigar Company in Florida. In 1937, he launched the Brick House cigar brand, which pays homage to J.C. Newman’s family home, where he spent his childhood. Until the Cuban Revolution, Brick House cigars were made exclusively from Cuban tobacco. As this was no longer possible after the Revolution, he switched to tobacco from Nicaragua. Today, Brick House cigars are made exclusively from Nicaraguan tobacco.
Brick House cigars are among the best-selling long-filler cigars in the USA and are regularly awarded top marks by *Cigar Aficionado* and *Cigar Journal*.
Among the most popular cigar lines are the Brick House Natural and Brick House Maduro. In 2018, the range was expanded to include the Brick House Double Connecticut.
