Delamain Pale & Dry XO Centenaire Cognac 50cl

"...we have no money for advertising," said Mr Delamain, the patriarch of one of the last great cognac families, "for us, everything goes into the distillate." His XO has now been honoured with a special award by the International Spirits Award. Not only Brandy of the Year, but also the very rarely awarded Grand Gold honour.
Delamain is not a distiller, but the house has been buying barrels of cognac from distillers in the area since 1795. Each barrel is tasted separately and checked to ensure that it meets the high standards of the Delamain house.

Only carefully aged cognacs from the Grande Champagne region are used for the Pale & Dry. After the marriage of several barrels, the still unaged blend is stored for a further 2 years and then very slowly reduced to 40% alcohol with old, 15% Grande Champagne Cognac.

The name 'Pale & Dry' was chosen because this cognac is lighter than usual and has not been coloured. The dry refers to the natural dry flavour of this Cognac which has not been sweetened.

Tasting Notes

Colour: Light gold
Nose: Intense, floral notes as well as vanilla, lots of rancio
Palate: Mild and round, you notice the old age. Lots of fruit.
