DESCRIPTION
The Ron Centenario is produced by Oliver & Oliver in Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic. The Oliver family originally comes from Cuba and upholds the Cuban rum tradition to this day.
The company has now gained an excellent reputation as a producer of premium rums in small, numbered editions. The class of Oliver rums is created by the long maturation of 3 to 30 years in oak barrels and the use of the solera process, under the supervision of master blender Don Pedro Oliver. He personally oversees the bottling of every single one.
The Opthimus 18YO was matured for a total of 18 years in oak casks that previously contained bourbon whisky. The reddish amber colour is very elegant and complements the outstanding appearance of the bottle.
The bouquet of the Opthimus 18YO is a veritable firework of gentle and mild sweetness. Toffee and vanilla are perceived very pleasantly and this rum remains very sweet on the nose. It is a rum that you should definitely take your time with. The fireworks continue on the palate, as honey, coffee, vanilla, toffee, caramel and a little dark chocolate ignite storms of enthusiasm in connoisseurs. Wonderfully mild and gentle, this rum is complex and expressive and offers pleasant nuances of oak wood as the flavour progresses. It is amazing how the aromas harmonise with each other and how intense they are.
TastingNotes:
Colour: Reddish amber
Nose: Sweet, toffee and vanilla.
Palate: Fireworks of honey, coffee, vanilla, toffee, caramel and a little dark chocolate.
The finish of the Opthimus 18YO is wonderfully smooth, very long and characterised by a certain lightness. A typical rum finish with an interplay of sweetness and spice pampers the tongue, palate and stomach intensely. A marvellous rum, a rum with character
